Sound familiar?
Does this sound like you?
You are newly trained in EMDR. You were just starting to feel confident in your clinical work, and now you are second-guessing everything.
- Whether to move forward.
- Whether that abreaction meant you did something wrong.
- Whether you are ready for this client at all.
Or maybe you have been using EMDR for a while and want to feel more flexible and grounded, rather than leaning so heavily on the protocol or bracing every time a session does not go to plan.
Most therapists finish training and realize that learning EMDR and actually using it in live sessions are two very different things. That gap is not a sign you chose the wrong modality. It is what happens when a structured protocol lands on top of the instincts you have spent years building, and the two have not yet learned to work together.
How I consult
Consultation that builds real confidence, not just technique
I support therapists integrating EMDR into their practice, especially intuitive, heart-centered clinicians who feel unsure how to trust themselves in a new modality. My style combines clear clinical guidance with space to reconnect to your own instincts as a practitioner, so what you build is a way of working that is truly yours rather than a script you are following.
What you can expect
A space where all parts of you are welcome and you do not need to have it figured out.
Room to bring real cases and real clinical questions without judgment.
Encouragement to follow your intuition and find your own voice inside the model.
Practical ways to weave EMDR together with somatic and parts work.

The path to certificationHow to become an EMDRIA Certified Therapist
Certification is optional. Completing an approved basic training is enough to practise EMDR ethically and to describe yourself as an EMDR therapist. Certification is the step that documents your depth in it, and clients, employers and credentialing bodies increasingly ask about it specifically.
Here is what EMDRIA asks for.
The credential runs for two years and then renews. Full requirements are published by EMDRIA. If the consultation hours are the part you are stuck on, that is the part I can help with directly.
1 .Complete an EMDRIA-approved basic training
Including the 10 hours of consultation that sit inside that training.
2. Hold a full licence, with two years of experience
In your field of licensure, practising independently.
3. Conduct at least 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients
4. Complete 20 hours of consultation with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant
At least 10 of these must be individual. The remaining 10 may be small group. No more than 15 may be completed with a Consultant in Training, and all 20 must fall within the past five years.
5. Complete 12 hours of EMDRIA continuing education
6. Submit letters of recommendation
Including at least one from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant addressing how you have used EMDR with clients.
Training and credentials
Meet your consultantSteady support from someone who remembers
I am an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, which means consultation hours completed with me count toward your EMDRIA certification.
I remember the mix of excitement and overwhelm that comes right after EMDR training, and how much difference good consultation made to me. Now I help other therapists feel steady using EMDR in real sessions, in a way that stays true to their values and their clinical instincts.
Alongside EMDR I work somatically, drawing on nervous system and parts-based approaches, and my consultation reflects that. We will talk about protocol fidelity, and we will also talk about what is happening in your body when a session goes sideways.

Ways to work together
Ways we can work together
-
1:1 EMDR consultation
One hour, online. Individualised case support and skill-building at your pace. Counts toward EMDRIA certification, and covers the 10 individual hours certification requires.
-
Small group EMDR consultation
Up to four therapists, online. Case discussion and shared learning in a supportive setting. Counts toward EMDRIA certification. EMDRIA permits groups of up to eight and I cap mine at four, so everyone brings a case and nobody sits silent.
-
Private practice consultation
One hour, online. For therapists building a practice that fits their values and their energy rather than someone else's template. This is a separate offering from EMDR clinical consultation and does not count toward certification hours.
Kind words
What consultees and colleagues say
“I have been working with Liza as my individual EMDR consultant for the past six months, and her support has been instrumental in my growth and confidence as a clinician. She consistently creates a safe, regulated space that allows me to show up fully and vulnerably in consultation. She asks thoughtful, well-timed questions that invite me inward, supporting reflection and integration while maintaining a strong sense of safety and curiosity. She skillfully balances strengthening internal resources with offering concrete external resources, including trainings, tools, and clinical guidance. Liza is knowledgeable, warm, and deeply attuned, and I genuinely enjoy our time together. Through our work, I have noticed a meaningful increase in my confidence and clarity in using EMDR, as well as a deeper trust in myself as a clinician.”

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and an EMDRIA Certified Therapist, so hours completed with me count toward your certification.
-
EMDR consultation is structured clinical guidance from an experienced EMDR clinician, focused specifically on your EMDR work. You bring live cases, we look at where the protocol is catching, and you leave with a clearer sense of what to do next. It is not general supervision and it is not therapy for the therapist.
-
Training teaches you the EMDR model. Consultation supports you in actually applying it with clients afterwards. I do not offer basic training, which comes from an EMDRIA-approved training provider. What I provide is the consultation that sits alongside and after it.
-
Yes, all consultation is held online. Because consultation is clinician to clinician rather than therapy, I can work with EMDR therapists anywhere in the United States, not only in the states where I am licensed to treat clients.
-
Yes, and there is no expectation that you have it figured out. That is rather the point.
-
Those are usually the most useful ones to bring. Stuck cases, unexpected abreactions and clients who dissociate mid-processing are exactly what consultation is for.
